"It's Not that Easy"--Medical Students' Fears and Barriers in End-of-Life Communication.

摘要: This study aims to assess and improve communication education for medical students in palliative care (PC) with the use of simulated patients (SP) Germany. More specifically, explore how evaluate SP end-of-life training which fears barriers arise. A pilot course was implemented. Qualitative content analysis used analyse transcribed recordings course. Pre- post-course questionnaires containing open-ended questions ascertained students’ motivation participating, their preparation within degree programme whether they felt had learned something important Seventeen third fourth year (age 22–31) participated five-session answered (pre n = 17, post n = 12). Students insufficiently prepared insecure. Discussing issues experienced as challenging emotionally moving. Within conversations, although sometimes showed blocking behaviour reaction emotional impact, valued consideration aspects very important. The overall highly appreciated being helpful. situation perceived authentic. Ten out 12 confirmed have (post course). Our results indicate an urgent need better students. Due fact that bedside teaching PC is not feasible all students, standardized can be a way generate authentic learning situation. Techniques address should, however, also considered.
