Antidiabetic effect of Citrullus colocynthis fruit aqueous extract on plasma glucose levels in diabetic rabbits

摘要: OBJECTIVES: Citrullus colocynthis (Handal) is a medical plant have been used for the treatment of diabetes in Iran from long time ago. METHODS: The antidiabetic effect hydromethanolic (70%) extracts Handal on plasma glucose levels were investigated diabetic rabbits. rabbits randomly divided to 3 groups, first group as control, second and third test. 100 mg/kg 200 administrated orally 2 group3 6 days respectively. RESULTS: day, oral administration C. colocynthis, produced non significant reduction after 6h 12 h comparison with (P<0.05). Every time, dose was due blood control group. Mean decreased both test groups during fifth day study, However, it only (P<0.000). All died diarrhoea sixth experiment. CONCLUSION: results suggest that although extract pulp can decrease rabbits, further studies are necessary finding effective safety dose.
