Nurses' experiences with catastrophic upper gastrointestinal bleeding in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma: a qualitative study.

摘要: Abstract Purpose To explore how nurses experienced catastrophic upper gastrointestinal bleeding in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients. Methods A qualitative descriptive method was used. Data were collected by semi- structured interviews. Twenty-one registered who had taken care of HCC patients with purposely recruited from the Department Hepatobiliary Cancer, Tianjin Medical University Cancer Institute and Hospital located mainland China. Results Four themes explicated study were: feelings expressed during process rescuing lives patients, succeeding or failing to save family members response nurses' actions, impact experience on personal life, work philosophy life nurse subjects. Conclusions The findings this indicate that it is necessary for nursing leaders take effective measures improve skills, provide more education dying, offer services address their psychosocial health them emotional support.
