摘要: In 1993, Goudie and co-authors named the postulate that there would be a marked decline in deposition of calcareous tufa Europe since ca. 2500 BP 'the late-Holocene decline'. However, growing development investigation on tufas considerable improvement dating methods, especially radiocarbon dating, has provided reliable evidence deposits developing until our present days. I thus discuss reality decline, reviewing 62 sites their time distribution based both dates biochronological data distinguishing different cases depending size types. demonstrate is actually general view rather complex tendency: after maximum during Atlantic period, fluvial are systematically affected by from 5 ka cal. but no trend shown proximal (spring-fed) or lacustrine tufas. This observation likely to result increasing impact human activity (mainly deforestation) landscapes, more specifically environments, Bronze Age.
