摘要: Many studies on patient safety are geared towards prevention of adverse events by eliminating causes error. In this article, I argue that research needs to widen its analytical scope and include strength as well. This change focus enables me ask other questions, like why don't things go wrong more often? Or, what is the significance time space for safety? The focal point article spatial dimension safety. To gain insight into 'geography' perform a topical analysis, will one specific kind (sterile space), medical procedure (insertion an intravenous line) ward (neonatology). Based ethnographic data from in Netherlands, demonstrate how arrangements produce sterility work produces orders at same time. Detailed analysis shows sterile line insertion involves convergence spatially distributed resources, relocations field activity, assemblage infrastructure attention, compositional order materials, scaling down one's degree mobility. Sterility, argue, turns out be product orderings. Simultaneously, generates particular orders, open restricted areas, producing buffers boundaries. However, intersects with lines activity. Insight normative structure these co-existing crucial By analyzing processes fine-tuning everyday practice, it becomes possible identify competences circumstances enable staff members provide safe health care. As such, offers alternative perspective safety, takes account dimension.
