摘要: We study theoretically the conformation and force-extension curve of a semiflexible polymer in spatially uniform ac electric field. The backbone minimizes its energy by aligning along one two orientations parallel to In strong field, hairpin kinks develop between regions opposite alignment. These are mathematically described as sine-Gordon solitons. calculate equation state one-dimensional kink gas, which yields polymer. A sufficiently field causes extend spontaneously almost full contour length. theory is applied recent experiments on dielectrophoretic stretching DNA.
