Clinical Observations on a Case of Idiopathic Tetany and Epilepsy

摘要: WE WISH to report a case in which epilepsy (grand mal) and idiopathic hypoparathyroidism with tetany occurred simultaneously. The patient was observed for period of 2½years. In this correction the hypocalcemia completely controlled both tetanic manifestations epileptic seizures, despite discontinuation specific anti-epileptic therapy. CASE REPORT A white male, aged 23 years, gave history grand mal attacks began at age 14. They were characterized by an aura “unusual” sensation mouth extreme fatigue, follofied typical cry, tonic convulsions, cyanosis, tonguebiting, foaming mouth, unconsciousness that lasted 5–10 minutes, followed sleep.
