摘要: Abstract Purpose Little is known about predictors of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) testing among sexually active adolescents, who account for a large proportion new HIV infections. This study sought to determine community-based sample adolescents in three cities had recent unprotected sexual intercourse. Methods Sexually (N = 1222) completed baseline and 3-month assessments behavior, substance use behaviors as part larger, multi-site, brief prevention program. Results Approximately half the reported having previously been tested HIV, those one third were next 3 months without specific intervention. Adolescents received more likely at have ever tested, STI diagnosis, not used substances during sex assertive condom with partner. Conclusions Health care models encouraging widespread, universal may be an important public health initiative curb spread HIV. Regular screenings provide opportunity enhance awareness behavioral risk status, well opportunities early detection care.
