Critical success factors for small and medium forest enterprises: A review

摘要: Abstract Small and medium forest enterprises (SMFEs) are small firms in developing countries aimed at generating income from a diverse set of forest-related activities. They result multiple dimensions economic, social, cultural prosperity forest-dependent economies, as such they constitute an important strategy for fostering prosperity. However, SMFEs face number barriers challenges, including inhospitable or incompatible regulatory environments, difficulties achieving economies scale, insufficient access to technical financial capacity overcome these issues. Through comprehensive literature review scholarly research published on the subject SMFE failures successes, our study addressed following question: what political, socio-cultural conditions needed thrive? In answering this question, we identified characterized twelve (12) emergent critical success factors (CSFs) enabling business environments: macroeconomic setting, frameworks, law enforcement, tenure ownership rights, management land use planning markets, natural capital, capacities, organizational clustering. The integrative environment framework proposed can be used tool by practitioners seeking promote through programs support policy reforms. By considering various CSFs that act foundation successful development, efficacy livelihood interventions aiming achieve around world meaningfully enhanced.
