摘要: Abstract Algal polysaccharides may assist in the incorporation of metal ions from water and also have applications health, interacting with biomembranes. In this paper, we exploited interactions at molecular level an extract extracellular algal polysaccharide (EPS) biomembrane models (lipid Langmuir monolayers). From surface pressure–area isotherms Polarization Modulation Infrared Reflection–Absorption Spectroscopy (PM-IRRAS), inferred that EPS interacts both kinds lipids: a negatively charged positively charged, however different mechanisms action. EPS, being polar heads lipid monolayer, while for forming film, penetrates into alkyl chains mechanism driven mainly by hydrophobic interactions. The insights obtained paper are relevant because these help to understand action biomembranes enable future EPS–lipid hybrid Langmuir–Blodgett films heavy ion sensors.
