摘要: Purpose Current examination techniques do not detect the wide clinical variability of flexor digitorum superficialis (FDS). Modification current may be necessary to anomalies and lead more accurate diagnosis. We examined 500 subjects using an expansion elicit range variations in FDS function discernable on examination. Methods was evaluated by asking flex finger interest while all other fingers were held fully extended at metacarpophalangeal interphalangeal joints. Isolated flexion proximal (PIP) joint indicated independent function. Obligatory distal (DIP) profundus (FDP) activity. Because activity could if concurrent FDP present, these designated as having substitution. Difficulty isolating PIP suggested connections adjacent or FDP, prompting examiner serially release observing for improvement DIP motion. Results Independent most consistently present ring middle fingers, less so index finger, least small finger. Variations included substitution tendons 1 2 with without evidence Absent cannot presumed any subject based solely a single digit. Conclusions are inadequate discern among multiple An expanded technique is recommended diagnosis following tendon injury.
