摘要: Biodiversity data are rapidly becoming available over the Internet in common formats that promote sharing and exchange. Currently, these somewhat problematic, primarily with regard to geographic taxonomic accuracy, for use ecological research, natural resources management conservation decision-making. However, web-based georeferencing tools utilize best practices gazetteer databases can be employed improve data. Taxonomic quality improved through web-enabled valid taxon names services, as well more efficient mechanisms return systematic research results misidentification rates back biodiversity community. Both of under construction. A separate but related challenge will developing visualization analysis tracking change. Our aim was discuss how such tools, combined enhanced quality, help transform today's portals raw into nexuses collaborative creation knowledge.
