摘要: In this paper, which is a revised version of the author's PhD thesis, we analyze two different applications string theory. first part, focus on four dimensional compactifications Type II theories preserving N=1 supersymmetry, in presence intersecting or magnetized D-branes. We show, through world-sheet methods, how insertion closed background fluxes may modify effective interactions Dirichlet and Euclidean branes. particular, compute flux-induced fermionic masses. The generality our results exploited to determine soft terms action instanton moduli space. Finally, investigate create new non-perturbative superpotential gauge stringy instantons SQCD-like models. second part devoted description statistical systems attention (d-1)-dimensional interfaces, present particular defined compact d-dimensional spaces. their exact partition function by resorting standard covariant quantization Nambu-Goto theory, compare it with Monte Carlo data. Then, propose an model describe interfaces 2d space test against reduction interface.
