摘要: I investigated the impacts of lethal management on behaviors, social affiliations, and resulting susceptibility to vehicle collisions overabundant whitetailed deer using global positioning system collars. compared weekly kernel home range sizes, 1-hour movements, escape distances during controlled hunting in one herd (65% reduction) sharpshooting (91% another. Weekly ranges increased (F13=4.6, p<0.001) normalized thereafter. did not differ sharpshooting, but 2weeks post-shoot (F13=2.4, p<0.005). Mean movements differed for both herds management. Deer exposed size by more than 400% 1-year post-shoot. Results suggest that techniques educate fewer animals, allowing efficient greater reduction.
