摘要: The chemical composition of cell walls from choline-less Torulopsis pintolopesii grown with choline or methionine was studied. Methioninegrown cells synthesized a weakened wall compared to normal choline-grown yeast. ethylenediamine fractionation procedure yielded three fractions—A, B, and C—with different solubilities. Glucose mannose were detected in hydrolysed unfractionated yeasts under both conditions as well all fractions. content greater fractions B C methioninegrown cells; the about same. Walls (W c ) had 25% more protein than methionine-grown m ). amino acid proteins W not qualitatively altered. Seventeen acids identified; glutamic aspartic valine predominated. 3.5 times lipid . amount phosphorus Yeasts on ergosterol cells. rate formation spheroplasts higher Rates incorporation adenine, acid, uracil similar choline; phenylalanine tyrosine depressed
