摘要: Fourteen male subjects with hypercholesterolemia received daily supplementation granulated guar gum or placebo, 15 g/day, during 12 wk in a double-blind, cross-over trial. A statistically significant reduction serum total cholesterol (7.27 +/- 0.24 versus 8.23 0.26 mmol/l, mean SEM, p less than 0.01) which was mainly due to low-density lipoprotein concentration (4.70 0.19 5.32 0.23 0.05) observed after 6 on as compared placebo. Between and the levels increased most subjects, difference from placebo no longer significant. Serum high-density were unaffected by gum. triglycerides showed changes study, body weight of remained unchanged. calcium, magnesium, phosphate, iron levels, urinary calcium excretion not affected supplementation. No severe side effects observed, necessitating dose stopping treatment. It is concluded that hypocholesterolemic effect seems decrease prolonged dietary Further controlled studies are needed before response long-term can be evaluated.
