摘要: An experiment on a backward wave oscillator (BWO) utilizing large diameter corrugated metal wall slow structure (SWS) has been presented. Measurements are made above and below the starting beam energy for conventional BWO operation. For latter case, an excited noise-level at 20 GHz (TM 01 mode) is coupled ends of SWS to forward anomalous Doppler shifted electron cyclotron (EC) mode which amplifies original oscillation by amount 50 dB. Resultant microwave output powers 200 kW with 4.5% electronic efficiency observed near condition resonant magnetic field 35 keV. Unlike well-known fast devices, our EC device simple operate dominant parallel velocity in uniform field.
