摘要: Not only in physical string theories, but also some highly simplified situations, background independence has been difficult to understand. It is argued that the ``holomorphic anomaly'' of Bershadsky, Cecotti, Ooguri, and Vafa gives a fundamental explanation problems. Moreover, their anomaly equation can be interpreted terms rather peculiar quantum version independence: systems afflicted by anomaly, does not hold order perturbation theory, exact partition function as coupling constants independent interpretation state an auxiliary Hilbert space. The significance this space otherwise unknown.
