摘要: Despite their significant impact on respiratory health, bioaerosols in indoor settings remain understudied and misunderstood. Culture techniques, predominantly used for bioaerosol characterisation the past, allow recovery of only a small fraction real airborne microbial burden settings, given inability several microorganisms to grow agar plates. However, with development new tools detect non-culturable environmental microorganisms, study has advanced significantly. Most importantly, these techniques have revealed more complex that also includes such as archaea viruses. Nevertheless, air quality specialists consultants reluctant adopt research-developed there are relatively few studies found literature, making it difficult find point comparison. Furthermore, is unclear how this data can be assess exposure human health. This article reviews literature describes bioaerosols, focussing bacteria, viruses, examines its bioaerosol-related diseases. It outlines available molecular detection quantification states various research needs field.
