Efficacy and cultural appropriateness of psychosocial interventions for paediatric burn patients and caregivers: a systematic review

摘要: Paediatric burns are highly painful and traumatising injuries that overrepresented among Aboriginal Torres Strait Islander people. burn patients’ pain remains poorly managed by pharmacological interventions, leading to increased anxiety, distress, trauma in patients their caregivers. Non-pharmacological psychosocial interventions have been suggested as effective reducing psychological morbidities paediatric caregivers; however, degree of effectiveness appropriateness for people is unclear. A non-date restricted systematic review was conducted through four databases. Studies published English assessing on physical along with theirs and/or caregiver’s or symptoms were identified included this review. Included studies assessed ability reduce one the outcomes interests reflection peoples’ perspectives health. Of 3178 references, 17 eligible. These include distraction based techniques (n = 8), hypnosis/familiar imagery (n = 2), therapeutic approaches (n = 4), patient preparation/procedural control (n = 3). Distraction incorporating procedural preparation reduced pain, while discharge ‘patient control’ caregiver anxiety; internet Cognitive Behaviour Therapy short-term but not long-term post-traumatic stress symptoms. No reflected health; few targeted caregivers focused The development assessment appropriately meet needs required.
