摘要: Summary Reasons for performing study: Endurance is the fastest growing Federation Equestre International (FEI) discipline and large number of eliminations on veterinary grounds needs to be investigated. Objectives: To document elimination rates explore potential risk factors due lameness or metabolic reasons in 9 countries representing 5 continents. Methods: Data rides ≥100 km (‘elite endurance rides’) Australia, France, Italy, South Africa, Spain, United Arab Emirates (UAE), UK, Uruguay USA were collected from FEI website. all started horses country, class, ride distance, class (e.g. young rider class) average speed winning horse. Retirements, lameness, other recorded. Uni- multivariable logistic regression models used assess effect distance 2 outcomes (elimination reasons). Results: 157 classes at 91 events analysed. The UAE had highest entries (1497), followed by France (1029) Spain (408). Of 4326 horses, 46.0% finished ride. Lameness was most common cause (69.2 23.5% eliminations, 31.8 10.8% respectively). Eight percent retired rider, having passed examination. In analysis, associated with country which held, significantly increased (OR = 1.60) competing ≥80 entries. also held 2.17) ≥100 analysis. Conclusions relevance: Elimination vary between countries, being reason globally. Analysis retrospective data showed disorders. A prospective study needed effects environmental conditions, individual horse variables specific causes elimination.
