摘要: Abstract This report describes the status of major extramural (epicardial) coronary arteries in 20 patients (average age=24 years) with nephrotic syndrome (from systemic lupus erythematosus 13 patients, diabetes mellitus four and chronic idiopathic glomerulonephritis three), compares clinical morphologic observations to those 14 control subjects age=29 years). Both ranged age from 15 39 years. The had significantly more luminal narrowing by atherosclerotic plaques than did subjects. lumens one or were narrowed >75 per cent cross-sectional area eight (40 cent) none difference degree disease was even striking when entire tree examined: 290.5 cm artery examined lumen 88 (30 >50 area, whereas 288 subjects, only 5.5 (2 this degree. Although cause accelerated atherosclerosis our is uncertain, hypercholesterolemia, hypertension, corticosteroid therapy increased clotting tendencies probably all contributed acceleration.
