摘要: Vibrio cholerae is the etiologic bacterial agent of cholera, a severe diarrheal disease endemic in much developing world. The V. genome contains 3,890 genes distributed between large and small chromosome. Although chromosome encodes majority recognizable gene products virulence determinants, carries disproportionate number hypothetical genes. Thus, little known about role biology this organism or other species. We have used rabbit ileal loop model infection to obtain vivo-grown cells under near midexponential conditions small-intestinal environment. compared global transcriptional pattern these those grown phase rich medium aerobic conditions. Under both conditions, showing highest levels expression reside primarily on However, shift occurs vivo that results many more chromosomal being expressed during growth intestine. Our analysis further suggests nutrient limitation (particularly iron) anaerobiosis are major stresses experienced by upper Finally, relative vitro growth, intestinal environment significantly enhanced several genes, including involved phenotypes such as motility, chemotaxis, colonization, toxin production.
