摘要: LINE-1 (L1) is the most abundant mammalian transposable element that comprises nearly 20% of genome, and half genome has stemmed from L1-mediated mobilization. Expression retrotransposition L1 are suppressed by complex mechanisms, where key role belongs to DNA methylation. Alterations in methylation may lead aberrant expression have been described numerous diseases. Accumulating evidence clearly indicates loss global observed cancer development progression tightly associated with hypomethylation elements. Significant progress achieved last several years suggests such parameters as status can be potentially utilized clinical biomarkers for determination disease stage predicting disease-free survival patients. In this paper, we summarize current knowledge on methylation, specific emphasis given success challenges way introduction into practice.
