摘要: Abstract A bacterial aetiology for Whipple's disease has been suggested, but no single organism implicated. In a 53-year old patient with typical disease, jejunal biopsy specimen showed striking lack of plasma-cells and lymphocytes in the lamina propria which suggested possibility an immunological deficit. Investigation patient's profile after chemotherapy 15 months revealed normal immunoglobulins antibody to Streptococcus Salmonellœ. The peripheral were morphologically normal, as was lymphocyte-count. There considerable impairment phytohaemagglutinin-induced lymphocyte transformation. These findings support hypothesis that may be result failure cell-mediated immune mechanisms.
