摘要: Barrett's esophagus is an acquired condition that results in a serious injury of the esophageal mucosa and whose importance lies possible progression to adenocarcinoma. The incidence adenocarcinoma continues rise Western world, being survival rate very grim when diagnosis made later stages. For this reason current strategies improve patients with focus on cancer detection at early potentially curable stage. This purpose could be achieved either by screening most likely have or endoscopic surveillance known esophagus. However, monitoring are currently invasive, expensive not really proven benefit. new techniques been developed treatment order change reality. aim paper update reader pathology terms pathophysiological epidemiological aspects, but especially relation advances treatment. We also propose guideline for clinical management group patients.
