摘要: Brown adipose tissue (BAT) has been implicated in the pathogenesis of obesity, type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndrome is a potential therapeutic target. can have significant impact on energy balance glucose homeostasis through action uncoupling protein 1, dissipating chemical as heat following neuroendocrine stimulation. We hypothesized that psychological stress, which known to promote cortisol secretion, would simultaneously activate BAT at thermoneutrality. activity was measured using infrared thermography determine changes temperature skin overlying supraclavicular (TSCR). A mild stress induced five healthy, lean, female, Caucasian volunteers short mental arithmetic (MA) test. The TSCR compared with repeated assessment, MA test replaced period relaxation. Although did not elicit an acute response, anticipation testing led increase salivary cortisol, indicative anticipatory associated trend towards higher absolute relative TSCR. positive correlation between found during phase, relationship enhanced by increased linked MA. Our findings suggest subtle level stimulate BAT, may account for high variability inconsistency reported prevalence other modalities. Consistent assessment this uniquely fundamental discovery strategies against disease.
