Surface and Textural Properties of Network-Modified Silica as a Function of Transition Metal Dopant Zirconium

摘要: Surface and textural properties of Zr-doped silica [xZrO2-(100 − x)SiO2] have been investigated as a function zirconium content in the range x = 5 to 50 (mol % Zr) via heating their respective xerogels (prepared with novel sol−gel route developed recently) air at 500 °C for 4 h. Nitrogen adsorption−desorption investigations (BET/BJH) on °C-heated samples show maximum specific surface area 484 m2g-1 20, minimum 105 50. With increase content, porosity can be tuned conveniently from mesoporous (100 A) microporous (≤ 20 region unimodal (or nearly unimodal) pore size distributions. Material issues such thermal reactions, oxide mixing level formation mechanisms also FTIR, XRD, DTA/TGA, XPS methods.
