摘要: This thesis investigates the evolutionary plausibility of Minimalist Program. Is such a theory language reasonable given assumption that human linguistic capacity has been subject to usual forces and processes evolution? More generally, this is comment on manner in which theories can should be constrained. What are constraints must taken into account when constructing language? These questions addressed by applying evidence gathered biology data from linguistics. The development generative syntactic theorising late 20th century led much redesigned conception faculty. driving question ‘why way it is?’ prompted assumptions simplicity, perfection, optimality, economy for language; minimal system operating an economic fashion fit larger cognitive architecture perfect manner. Studies linguistics, other hand, have keen demonstrate complex, redundant, adaptive, Pinker & Bloom’s (1990) seminal paper being perhaps prime example this. whether these opposing views married any way. Interdisciplinary brought bear problem, demonstrating reconciliation impossible. Evolutionary shows do not arise typically evolving systems, yet Program attaches characteristics language. It evolvable systems exhibit degeneracy, modularity, robustness, Programmust rule features out evolution exhibits trend towards complexity, excludes depiction
