摘要: In a series of studies, we evaluated the susceptibility immunoassays for saliva biomarkers to interference effects caused by cotton materials used absorb during sample collection. Salivary assay results testosterone, DHEA, progesterone, and estradiol are artificially high, sIgA low, when samples collected using absorbent materials. contrast, salivary cortisol, DHEA-S, cotinine not affected use collection methods. The order individual from versus no-cotton methods certain markers is conserved, suggesting that some this method can be significant source unsystematic error. It was shown, DHEA as an example, effect sufficient magnitude attenuate association between serum levels. Awareness issue critical ensure measurement validity in future studies analyses archived
