Comparing big givers and small givers: Financial correlates of corporate philanthropy

摘要: In a departure from the traditional studies of corporate philanthropy that focus on board composition, advertising, and social networks, authors investigate financial correlates philanthropy. The research design controls for firm size industry while observing firms variety industries. sample contains matched pairs generous less givers. find, as hypothesized, positive relationship between firm's cash resources available donations, but no significant performance, regardless whether is measured payouts or aggregate contributions charities actually receive, performance gauged using accounting measures market measures. Whereas link well accepted in literature responsibility, it has been rarely tested never so definitively found this research.
