摘要: Abstract This Special Issue is dedicated to the southern and southeastern Brazilian continental shelf. The works comprising review, substantiate or improve description of mechanisms that drive oceanographic processes known date, also report new findings. support strong meridional gradient physical-chemical characteristics observed in this region driven by La Plata River plume at south a marked influence oceanic water masses north. importance annual cycle wind field modulating volumes distinct waters on shelf consolidated. results gathered strongly area near Sao Sebastiao Island delimits two main regimes with contrasting sedimentation rates primary secondary production mechanisms. Nonetheless, it became clear process-oriented studies are imperative for understanding how functions.
