摘要: We present a model of the interaction segregation and suburbanization in determining residential location. The incorporates differential income between two classes agents, simplified market mechanism for purchase housing, simple geographic structure one central city four symmetrically arranged suburbs. Agents derive utility from neighborhood racial composition, size their lot, private amenities that are specific to neighborhoods, public stretch across municipalities. find public-amenities term leads positive-feedback loop which migration suburbs increases those municipalities while lowering city, thus sparking further migration. When minority agents uniformly less affluent than majority this dynamic produces discontinuity as measured by centralization. Such discontinuities typical first-order phase transitions. major...
