摘要: AbstractWe conducted a series of nutrient manipulation experiments over the first 5 y Dreissena colonization in Saginaw Bay, Lake Huron, to evaluate benthic algal limitation and community composition. We placed nutrient-diffusing substrata littoral zone Bay during 1991 (early colonization) from 1992 1995 (post-Dreissena colonization). The treatments consisted P, N, P+N additions, control. Chlorophyll decreased through time 1995. Phosphorus limited biovolume only 1994. Treatments with P additions had significantly more chlorophyll than controls each year after 1992. This result was consistent an observed decrease dissolved throughout study. Nitrogen no significant effect 5-y period. Major shifts species composition did not but rather seemed be changes light penetration herbivory. Our data demonstrated that pre-Dr...
