摘要: United States federal regulatory agencies develop indicators and other ecological information tools for a variety of reasons, including providing framework supporting decision making that is defensible to Congress the public. Agencies typically their own specific or programmatic purposes coordination with indicator projects often limited. Here we give an overview incentives driving development at different provide some examples federally supported monitoring projects. There has been trend in management related toward coordinating efforts across larger geographic scales (ecosystem/regional). However, there currently insufficient institutional leadership coordinate national scale. This article not subject copyright law.
