摘要: The spawning areas and early development of long spiky-head carp, Luciobrama macrocephalus (Lacepede), an endemic fish species in China, were investigated the Yangtze River Pearl central southeastern China between 1961 1993. potamodromous migrated upstream to spawn May July as floodwater began rise. water-hardened eggs drifted down river, embryos larvae developed course drifting. widely found upper middle main channels large tributaries. Two dams (Gezhouba dam Danjiangkou dam) did not significantly impact on reproduction fish. Fifty stages from one cell juvenile with fully formed fins observed characterized pictorially. carp could be distinguished other co-occurring by counting number somites comparing proportion sizes eye otic capsule.
