摘要: Summary The initial results of a coordinated field and laboratory investigation the ecologic factors associated with maintenance, distribution, dispersion R. rickettsii indicate widespread occurrence spotted-fever infection in indigenous wild fauna Virginia Maryland. Seven strains rickettsiae were recovered from six species native mammal trapped Virginia: one cottontail rabbit, an opossum, five four rodent. Spotted-fever-group antibodies detected sera 15 different included among orders. Similarly, complement-fixing found 18 bird belonging to three orders, mostly Passeriformes. These findings amply complexity ecosystem which is maintained also identify some communities within involved this tick-borne rickettsiosis.
