摘要: A total of 136 stream water and 143 groundwater samples collected in five important hydrologic systems the United States were analyzed for microbiological indicators to test monitoring concepts a nationally consistent program. Total coliforms found 99%, Escherichia coli 97%, Clostridium perfringens 73% each bacterium. 20%, E. less than 1%, C. none Although coliphage analyses performed on many samples, contamination laboratory problems discerning discrete plaques precluded quantification. Land use was have most significant effect concentrations bacterial water. Presence septic property near sampling site well depth be related detection groundwater, although these relationships not statistically significant. greater diversity sites, more detailed information about some factors, larger dataset may provide further insight factors that affect indicators.
