摘要: The factors that generate happiness or distress in people are not well understood, nor change such states. This study attempted to show accounting for people's sense of personal causation could provide a clear understanding the relationship between live events, activity, and measures psychological well-being. After pretesting, three randomly selected groups college students were given instructions either (a) engage 12 activities from self-selected list pleasurable activities, (b) 2 list, (c) return after 1 month retesting only. Covariance analyses revealed subjects instructed reported greater pleasantness higher quality life than controls; there no differences on reports psychiatric distress. Prior negative was treated as factor design found interact with activity instructions: Subjects reporting many prior changes exhibited less along when rather none. results suggested engaging pleasant increases positive aspects well-being general, but may reduce only who experiencing considerable stress.
