摘要: Background. Irritable bowel syndrome is commonly accepted as a disorder closely influenced by affective factors, which can either trigger the symptoms or contribute to their persistence, independently from aetiology. It has been previously documented that irritable patients respond variety of emotional states (anger, fear and anxiety) with an increase in colonic motility. Aims. The aim this study was evaluate experience expression anger prevalent ego-defence mechanisms group non-psychiatric syndrome. Subjects. Fifty-two (18 males, 34 females) 100 healthy volunteers community (44 56 matched for age, level education social-status were enrolled. Methods. Assessment conducted using State–Trait Anger Expression Inventory Defence Mechanism Inventory. Results. No important differences between two examined groups found Conclusions. be hypothesised stable personality features habits, such disposition defence mechanisms, play only marginal role syndrome, while psychological psychosocial influences may act predisposing precipitating factors pathogenesis symptoms. © 2006 Editrice Gastroenterologica Italiana S.r.l.
