摘要: Solid-state luminescent materials that are sensitive to external stimuli of enormous importance due their potential for application as smart responsive and devices. Here we report the changes in photophysical properties a novel benzimidazole-based chromophore upon formation an inclusion complex with DMSO molecules solid state, vapochromic co-assembly explored. The is synthesised single step good yield. compound reasonably emissive solution, however, it exhibits red shift quenching emission state. Co-assembly results two distinctly forms, yellow (Y-form) orange (O-form) regions visible spectrum. An enhanced observed Y-form, while O-form efficiency similar pristine solid. Various factors stabilize basis fluorescence enhancement studied substantiated by DFT investigations QM:MM framework. crystalline co-assemblies can be reverted structure form vapours polar protic solvents, which dramatically modify properties. new therefore promising sensors environmental monitoring.
