摘要: Within the past fifteen years, glacial lake outburst floods have become an active topic of discussion within development community focused on Nepal. Such endanger thousands people, hundreds villages, and basic infrastructure such as trails bridges. The flood risk is also a major impediment to hydroelectric in several river basins. Unlike most other mountain hazards Nepal, reducing possibility technically feasible. first attempt Nepal reduce hazard one by artificially lowering its water level was partially completed June 2000. Completing this task beginning work hazardous lakes will require difficult decisions about downstream residents substantial investment from international aid community.
