摘要: The purpose of screening for breast cancer is to detect and treat potentially lethal cancers at a time when they are still curable. Thus the benefit reduction in risk death from cancer. This must be weighed against several potential disadvantages. These include advancing date diagnosis low malignancy which would have been curable if left until symptomatic presentation, anxiety unnecessary biopsies women with false positive results, radiation hazard mammography and, last but not least, very considerable resource costs providing diagnostic follow-up service.
