Learning to Play, Playing to Learn: Comparing the Experiences of Adult Foreign Language Learners with Off-the-Shelf and Specialized Games for Learning German

摘要: Learning opportunities offered by digital games have become an important research topic in recent years. Language learning is one of the areas which could prosper but question then whether these should be specialized language-learning or commercial off-the-shelf for entertainment. The goal this paper to compare experiences evoked playing a and two adult foreign language learners N=62. While results experimental design suggest that game better experiences, findings are partly neutralized attitude participants towards through being frequent player not. This raises questions as how designed appeal public not familiar with game-based gaming general.
