摘要: Deinococcus species exhibit an extraordinary ability to withstand ionizing radiation (IR). Most of the studies on resistance have been carried out with exponential phase cells. The radiodurans R1 respect different phases growth showed that late stationary cells D. were fourfold more sensitive IR and heat as compared or early increased sensitivity in was not due a decrease intracellular Mn/Fe ratio increase level oxidative protein damage. restored when incubated for 15 min fresh medium before irradiation, indicating replenishment exhausted nutrients metabolic capability repair DNA These observations suggest stress tolerance mechanisms differ from established paradigms.
