摘要: Nest site availability, preferences and quality for Ural owls (Strix uralensis) were studied in managed forests a large nature reserve Estonia. The owl's density was relatively higher the reserve. bred tree cavities stick nests, but preferred cavities. Suitable very rare compared to most found Pairs having no suitable their territories started breed less frequently, difference detected young produced per breeding attempt between cavity nests nests. Used as well unused situated similar stands landscapes, nest characteristics of distinct. study shows that lack snags may limit numbers owls, which accept these structures more readily than Retention cavity-forming trees forestry operations be an effective conservation strategy this species.
