摘要: The way species and subspecies names are applied in African trypanosomes of subgenera Trypanozoon Nannomonas is reviewed the light data from molecular taxonomy. In subgenus taxonomic importance pathogenicity, host range distribution appear to have been inflated relative actual levels genetic divergence. opposite true for Nannomonas, where current usage badly underrepresents diversity. Data characterisation studies revealing a growing number genotypes, which may represent distinct taxa. Unfortunately few these genotypes yet supported by sufficient biological be recognized taxonomically. But we missing fundamental epidemiological information, because our inability distinguish blood morphologically or tsetse their developmental cycle. Molecular taxonomy has led identifying new now offers key elucidating biology organisms.
