摘要: Background Cultured red blood cells (cRBCs) from cord (CB) have been proposed as transfusion products. Whether buffy coats discarded donations (adult [AB]) may be used to generate cRBCs for has not investigated. Study Design and Methods Erythroid progenitor cell content numbers group antigen profiles of erythroblasts (ERYs) generated in human erythroid massive amplification (HEMA) culture by CB (n = 7) AB (n = 33, three females, males, one with rare antigens cryopreserved using protocols) were compared. Results Variability was observed both (twofold) number ERYs (1 log) HEMA. The average contents the subset analyzed similar. times lower (p < 0.01) than HEMA containing fetal bovine serum but similar proteins. Female contained two fewer (p < 0.05) those male AB. Cryopreserved a phenotype shipped another laboratory great ERYs, 90% which matured into cRBCs. Blood expression consistent donor genotype concordant that native RBCs only derived AB. Conclusion Buffy regular donors, including phenotypes stored under conditions established CB, are inferior generation
