摘要: On a number of recent cruises between Africa and Antarctica closely-spaced measurements were made hydrographic variables, as well primary productivity chlorophyll-a concentration. We describe the occurrence high levels at certain specific locations, associated primarily with sea-surface fronts wherever such frontal systems have characteristics convergence. Information gathered by Coastal Zone Colour Scanner Nimbus-7 satellite shows clear relationship horizontal shear edges currents forming part southern Agulhas Current system biological enhancement. Various possible physical mechanisms which may be responsible for enhancement different are discussed.
