摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter focuses specifically on the performance assessment issues associated with use of disused hydrocarbon reservoirs as geological storage sites for CO 2 . Depleted are regarded safe sinks greenhouse gases (GHG). However, depletion can give rise to a variety coupled physical and chemical processes, which may affect hydraulic integrity bounding seals. discusses how these various processes impact reservoir caprock point where initial prior be sufficiently deteriorated. Furthermore, wellbores included among seals, making them critical elements in , because they act preferential flow paths, their is strongly affected by depletion. Most possible mechanisms that induce leakage already recognized petroleum industry basin development evolution. However, activate or trigger such far more aggressive depletion, consequences seals dramatically.
